Ignorance is the major cause of Blindness. The Society’s work extends to preventing blindness through education and training on eye care. This invaluable programme is a joint partnership between the society and the Ministry of Health and extends to all districts of Fiji, especially the rural areas, through the Community Based Rehabilitation Programme.
The Fiji Society for the Blind was established in the year 1970 by public support led by the Suva Rotary Club, just after Fiji gained its independence.
